COR - "Sir, we're getting a message from the Cortes...it's a mayday!"
SHER - (flapping hand impatiently) "put it on the speaker!"
Sheridan makes a response and orders "Keep sending that."
COR - "Yessir."
Scene break
Zeta squadron is launched and jumps.
SHER - "Communication status?"
COR - "Nothing from the Cortes now, sir. Your message is being relayed from fighter to fighter in hyperspace. The pilots report no response yet."
Sheridan paces. "What's happening?"
COR - (hands are flapping a little) "It's gotten scratchy again, sir - I can't even hear the pilots now."
SHER - sighs. "All right. Carry on."
scene break
Only two are left in C&C. Sheridan is still waiting - he has lost two fighters. Corwin walks up the steps out of the bowl. "Sorry, sir" and leaves.
